Kondisi gawat darurat pada kelompok ini sering kali muncul secara tiba-tiba dan memerlukan tindakan cepat, tepat, dan terukur. Kegagalan dalam melakukan penanganan segera dapat menyebabkan morbiditas dan mortalitas yang tinggi, baik pada ibu maupun anak. Oleh karena itu, pemahaman mendalam tentang konsep kegawatdaruratan ini menjadi landasan penting bagi tenaga kesehatan, khususnya perawat di layanan primer maupun rujukPerubahan fisiologis dan psikologis yang dialami oleh ibu selama kehamilan dan persalinan dapat meningkatkan risiko terjadinya komplikasi. Kondisi seperti perdarahan postpartum, preeklampsia, eklampsia, dan infeksi puerperal masih menjadi penyebab utama kematian ibu di berbagai negara berkembang, termasuk Indonesia.
