The idea of the Bandung Conference in 1955 could not be separated from the international circumstances. It was firmly connected with the international dimensions. The world in 1955 was confronted with the Cold War between Washington and Moscow. On the other hand, there were massive forces from the colonized countries to get rid of their colonial master. This era was a transition from the period of colonialism to the period of independence for the colonized nation. Those two affairs, the Cold War and the emancipation of colonized countries, were the two main foundations in understanding the situation that gave impetus to the emergence of the Bandung Conference in 1955. Asia-Africa Conference, however, was not a sole event. It had its roots in the invitation by Ceylon Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala to Ali Sastromidjojo to attend the meeting of the five asian prime ministers.
